About Dalyan

Dalyan is one of the brightest, most beautiful jewels in the crown of Turkey’s unspoilt Lycian coastline. A welcoming boutique town with a population of 5000 people, the quaint cobbled streets, lovely flower gardens and warm and hospitable community make it a perfect place to live.

This stylish town nestles by a river full of wildlife in the shadow of dramatic pine clad mountains. One of Turkey’s highest calibre beaches ( the 7km undeveloped Turtle Beach) is a short boat trip away down the reed strewn river delta.

This exceptional town and picturesque surrounding area are part of a nature conservation zone and the visible result in Dalyan is that all building is strictly regulated. All private houses are only two storeys high and set well apart in spacious gardens. There are no apartment blocks and no noisy hotel complexes, close your eyes and you will hear bird song not pop songs.

The atmosphere around culturally rich Dalyan is that of a luxury resort, the package tourists and drunken teenagers so common in Bodrum, Fethiye and Antalya are entirely absent in our lovely peaceful town. İnstead the discerning residents sip sundowners or tea watching the gentle breeze tease the olive trees around the spectacular ancient rock tombs. With a wealth of good restaurants and small cosy bars Dalyan is the ultimate in relaxed and calming Mediterranean life.

The countryside around our town has some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Turkey and a plethora of cultural sites from the Lycian, Carian and Byzantine period. From Dalyan one can walk to the atmospheric ruined city of Caunos or catch a boat over to the local mudbaths.

Bird watching is another favourite activity here as is cycling and countryside walking, for those interested in the healthy life one can visit the health giving spa and thermal baths at Sultaniye (just over the river).

If you want to travel and can bear to leave this paradise Dalyan is only 20 minutes drive from Dalaman international airport and well placed for boat trips to the Greek islands and Cyprus too.
